For the barbecue season 2020, Weber returns to the classic Weber Spirit E 330 and presents an updated version of the Weber Spirit SP 335. Both grids have amazing performance and much better features than their slightly larger Genesis counterparts.
The big question is whether upgrading the Spirit SP 335 is more expensive than upgrading the Spirit E330.
Mind E 330 and SP 335 Technical data and dimensions
Let’s see what these grids have in common:
- Grilling area: .424 inches from the main cooking surface with an additional 105 inches as heating racks.
- Primary burner : Three stainless steel burners for a total capacity of 32,000 BTU/h.
- Heating capacity: (32,000 Btu/hour) / (424 square inches) = 75 Btu/hour per square inch
- Side burner: 12,000 Btu/h
- Burner for drive installation: 7500 BTU/h
- Dimensions: 45.5 INCH X 52 INCH X 24 INCH D
- Warranty: 10 years (lid, hob, burner pipes), 5 years (grids), 2 years (all other parts).
Both are complete three-burner grids, equipped with side burners and search stations. The grids have a high permeability, an even heat distribution and create a minimal flame play through the use of aromatic rods. The warranty is extensive and reflects the fact that both grills, which complement the Spirit range, are built to last.
Differences between Spirit SP 335 and E 330
There are many aesthetic differences between these gratings, but only one functional difference really counts. The most important aesthetic differences are
- Stainless steel enclosure lid and door for SP 335
- Stainless steel rod aromatizer on SP 335
- Metal burner control knobs on the SP 335
- Fewer tool hooks on the SP 335
Some people really want a stainless steel grill, and these aesthetic differences are enough to buy the SP 335 instead of the E 330.
The biggest functional difference between these two grills is the grill grid. The model E 330 has an excellent cast iron grill with porcelain enamel. The SP 335 has an even better grid, made of 7 mm thick stainless steel rods. The stainless steel bar grille is easier to clean and gives better grill marks than the cast iron grille.
The Spirit SP 335 is a brand new grill and there are no customer reviews available at the time of writing. The Spirit E 330 website has more than 130 reviews with 90% – 5 or 4 stars and only 2% – 1 or 2 stars.
The customer reviews of the E 330 on Amazon are very similar to those of the website.
Although the proportion of one- and two-star figures is low, they have common themes. Concerns have been expressed that incoming parts are damaged, difficult to install and excessively corroded on the frame and housing.
That makes 330 and 335 excellent
The characteristic of the Spirit grill is its high performance. If you deep-fry with alcohol, you have a very even heating in the whole fillet and very little fire. If you’re used to baking on cheap gas grills, the Spirit Grill will change things for you.
Here is a video that allows you to see the Spirit E 330 up close.
Both grills are equipped with a Sear Station burner that provides a super hot part of the grill for grill marks on steaks. The models 330 and 335 are the only Spirit grills with research stations and side burners.
What I don’t like is.
The only thing I don’t like about these nets is the collateral.
Although the warranty on these Spirit grills is much higher than other brands such as Char Broil, DynaGlo and NexGrill, it is less than 10 years on all parts you receive from Weber Genesis. Most importantly, all parts offered by Weber for the Spirit II series in 2018 and 2019 have a warranty of less than 10 years.
Weber has deliberately withdrawn the warranty of the Spirit Grill for the year 2020, which probably reflects a lower quality of construction.
vs. othersIn-line triple burner gas grids
Weber offers three options for gas burners, so you should consider other options.
- Ghost E 310: Same size as the Spirit 330, but without heart station and side burner.
- Spirit S 315: Stainless steel grill. Same size as the Spirit 330, but without heart station and side burner.
- Genesis E 310: The grill surface is 20% larger than the Spirit 330, but without servo and side burner.
- Genesis E 330: The grilling surface is 20% larger than the Spirit 330 and has a heart station and a side burner.
In my opinion, the Spirit 330 and 335 offer the best ratio between cost, size and performance and will be an excellent addition to any garden.
